MUNDELEIN — He’s made an important career choice.

According to the Prep Baseball Report (PBR), Mundelein graduate Ryan Borucki has signed a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The hard-throwing left-hander was drafted in the 15th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball amateur draft in early June.

The 6-foot-4 Borucki had options. He had received a scholarship to pitch in the Big Ten for the University of Iowa.

PBR ranks Borucki as the No. 1 player in Illinois (Class 2012). His fastball has been clocked at 92 mph.

This spring, Borucki was slowed by an elbow injury. He was limited to 23-plus innings on the mound, allowing only 13 hits. He finished with 38 strikeouts and four walks.

Despite the injury, Borucki remained in the lineup at first base. He hit .318 with 21 RBI.
