Stevenson grad Stefan Antonijevic was selected in the third round of Tuesday’s Major League Soccer (MSL) Supplemental Draft.

Antonijevic, who was a three-year standout for Valparaiso University, was picked by Sporting Kansas City with the fifth pick of the third round.

“This is a dream come true, especially for me,” noted Antonijevic, in a news release put out by Valparaiso. “My life has been about soccer as long as I can remember, and I’ve been working towards the goal of having the chance to play professionally for a long time.”

This fall, Antonijevic was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year. He anchored a back line, which gave up only 14 goals in 20 games.

Sporting KC, previously known as the Kansas City Wizards, advanced to the MSL Cup semifinals this past season.
