Ralph Rosenbaum has been a fixture at Burt’s Deli in Libertyville since he was 10 years old. The deli was opened in 1975 by Ralph’s father, Burt, who passed away nine years ago.
Ralph, who grew up in Highland Park, recalls riding his bicycle for an hour every day after school to Libertyville to work in the deli with his father. After closing, he would load his 10-speed bike into his dad’s car for the ride home.
It’s the only job he has ever had.
