Dave Kublank (also known as “Grandpa Dave”), a retired Highland School band director/teacher, is a well-known wood carver in the flat-plane carving style - it looks simple, but some say it’s the hardest kind to do.
He is a Gurnee resident who teaches carving classes at Woodcrafters and to adults at Libertyville High School.
