Too often, we get to fall and talk about how much we wished it was summer but I think Fall got jealous and decided to crash our July. But we’re not going to let a minor cool down get to us. We’re going to dig out our favorite hoodies, grab a blanket (just in case) and enjoy this respite from the summer heat, because when it comes back, we’ll be complaining about how hot it is! So let’s enjoy this brief dip in the temperature and enjoy it!
I don’t know about you, but I love an excuse to buy a new scarf or a new favorite fall sweater. So I’m looking forward to First Fridays on Main Street, (Friday, August 02, 6-9 pm.) Walking through the charming streets of Libertyville, enjoy al fresco dining, and of course, the cute boutiques! Finish the night by listening to music, visiting a local restaurant or gallery and indulging in a special treat.

Lake Villa Days is holding its annual celebration this weekend and I’d much rather it be this weekend, than some 100 degree day that makes me long for February. Bring the family out and enjoy carnival games, bingo, food, beverages, and live entertainment. Friday night will feature Bella Cain and Saturday will be Modern Day Romeos. Enjoy all of the sights and smells of summer, without worrying about heat stroke at Lehmann Park, 148 Cedar Ave., Lake Villa, IL
Chicago-based based band, Siegel-Schwall was instrumental in The Great Blues Revival of the 1960s and they’re still going strong this weekend at Long Grove’s Summer Concert Series, Sunday, August 4, 4-6pm. All Concert in the Park events are free of charge and concert goers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the air of a summer Sunday afternoon while listening to wonderful music. Sunset Foods Pavillion, Downtown Long Grove.
Should the brisk evenings of this strange reverse heat wave be a little to chilly, you can always head indoors for the musical comedy, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” at the Lincolnshire Marriott. There are only two weeks left to experience this hilarious performance all about the quirks of love. Whether it’s a date night, or a girl’s night out, enjoy this musical romp as it follows the everyday hilarity of relationships.
Wherever the ride takes you, there’s always something to do in Lake County Illinois.
