Support Calabresa for County Board

Updated: March 29, 2012 4:02PM

I encourage everyone to vote in the March 20 primary election and to support Carol Calabresa for the County Board in District 15.

Carol has been a Lake County Board member for District 15 for the past 26 years. She is one of the most experienced members of the County Board having served on the Law and Judicial, Finance and Administration, Health and Community Services committees.

During her time in office, the County Board has managed our tax dollars responsibly. They have balanced the budget during some tough economic times and maintained Lake County’s AAA bond rating. Lake County is one of only 38 counties in the United States to have this rating. This fact alone is a big accomplishment and those responsible should be retained in office.

Carol has served the residents of Lake County on many other boards, commissions, and councils such as the Lake County Domestic Violence Council, Storm Water Management, and the Winchester House Advisory Board.

Lake County County Board members also serve as Lake County Forest Preserve Commissioners. Carol has served terms as president, vice-president, and treasurer of the Lake County Forest Preserve. She has been instrumental in leading the $140,000,000 bond referenda for Forest Preserve land acquisition and trail development. Residents of Lake County enjoy some of the finest preserves in the Chicagoland area.

Carol has also participated and worked on many other environmental, civic and community activities to numerous to mention in this column. The body of work is extensive and impressive. Let’s retain Carol Calabresa on the County Board. I am sure she will continue to work full time for the residents of Lake County.
