The entire team has shown great improvement all season. Coach Henneberry and Coach Rappaport are very proud of the wrestlers hard work and dedication. The team will celebrate their season on March 13 3:30 p.m. after school in the Junior High Cafeteria, parents are encouraged to attend.

Chess Club news

What an exciting day at the 49th Kumbaya Scholastic Chess Tournament in Skokie. We had six students representing Oak Grove: Matthew Berner, Jacob Lawrence, Adam Nostrand, Nikhil Patel, Joseph Welch and Christine Zhang.

They played in three different sections: Non-Rated, Rated U600 and Rated U1000. E Jacob Lawrence returned home with the Second Place individual trophy and Adam Nostrand returned home with the Fourth Place trophy for his efforts. Together they captured the First Place Team trophy for their section. In the U600 Section, Matthew Berner won three out of four games (gaining over 100 rating points) and placed eighth out of 39 players. ENikhil, in his first efforts in the rated section, placed 11th out of 39 and gained 452 rating points for first time efforts. What a wonderful showing for both of them! The U1000 section is very difficult and although challenging, both Joseph and Christine represented Oak Grove well with good sportsmanship and professional behavior.

Congratulations!

The cost of each is $40. See demonstrations of both at conferences on March 8. We will be set up near the elementary office. Parents, please check your email today for registration information.
