Brin faces Haran in November for circuit clerk

It was a close race between Republican circuit clerk candidates Keith Brin and Gerald Dietz. In the end, Brin of Highland Park wound up with about 52 percent of the votes, according to preliminary election results.
Brin, 39, said he expected a close race between him and Dietz.
“From the moment I met Gerry, I found him to be a professional and good attorney, and I never underestimate my opponent, so I always assumed it could be down to the wire,” Brin said.
Brin has been deputy chief in the Circuit Clerk’s office for about three years. He will face Democrat Cynthia Pruim Haran in the November election for Circuit Clerk.
“I’m certainly honored and proud to be the Republican candidate. I’m looking forward to a vigorous race for Circuit Clerk,” Brin said.
He has said that if elected, he wants to update the clerk’s office to use an electronic filing system. He said his other goal is to maintain fiscal discipline and accountability in the office. Brin practiced business law in Chicago for six years and worked in management capacities for several businesses before working in the Circuit Clerk’s Office.
Dietz of Round Lake was a volunteer firefighter/paramedic with Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District for about 15 years. He is a municipal attorney and graduated from law school in 1999.
The preliminary results do not include early voting and absentee ballots. The preliminary result is based on vote tallies from the 415 precincts in Lake County.
