Libertyville Police Blotter for May 24

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

LIBERTYVILLE

DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED

Lauren Ashley Richardson, 23, of 73 Laurel Drive, Lindenhurst, was charged with driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured vehicle and expired registration on May 14. She was stopped at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Greentree Plaza in the 1100 block of South Milwaukee Avenue, after a records check revealed she was driving with a suspended driver’s license. She was arrested and the vehicle was towed. Richardson was also cited for driving the vehicle without insurance and with an expired registration sticker. She was processed and later released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond with a pending court date of June 13 in Mundelein Branch Court.

Steven Reyes Medina, 23, of 703 N. County, Waukegan, was charged with driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle on May 19. At 12:20 a.m. Medina was stopped on North Milwaukee Avenue near Ellis Avenue after a records check revealed that the driver had a suspended driver’s license. Medina was arrested and his vehicle towed. He was processed and later released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond with a court date of June 15 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Griffin S. Adams, 18, of 1305 Virginia Ave., Libertyville, was cited for driving while license suspended and failure to wear a seat belt following a traffic stop at approximately 8:10 p.m. May 19 in the 600 block of West Park Avenue. Adams was processed and then released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 13 court date in Mundelein Branch Court.

Reuben P. Ramirez, 33, of 227 Peterson Road 3, Libertyville, was charged with driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured vehicle and no rear registration lights following a traffic stop at 9:30 p.m. May 19 on Milwaukee Avenue near West Ellis Avenue. Ramirez was stopped by police for non-functioning rear registration lights. He was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license and also without insurance on the vehicle and he was arrested. He was later released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond with a pending court date of June 13 in Mundelein Branch Court.

DUI

Craig Richard Shasserre, 41, of 4301 Turtle Bay, Springfield, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle on May 14. At approximately 11:40 p.m., Shasserre was stopped on Greggs Parkway near Milwaukee Avenue after police observed him swerving in his lane of traffic and crossing over lane markings. Shasserre failed field sobriety tests and he was arrested and the vehicle towed. After processing, he was released after posting his driver’s license and a $100 cash bond with a court date scheduled for June 1 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Leah K. McClellan, 62, of 174 Pond Ridge Road, Libertyville, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol (two felony counts), DUI, driving while license suspended and improper lane usage on May 16. Responding to a complaint of a reckless driver at approximately 11:05 p.m. on southbound Butterfield Road approaching Route 176, officers located McClellan’s vehicle. She was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license and was arrested and the vehicle towed. She was also cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and additionally charged with two felony counts of aggravated DUI. She was taken into custody and the next morning she was transported to Lake County bond court where she was remanded to the Lake County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Patricia K. Zygmunt, 24, of 902 Wexford Court, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle and expired registration on May 17. Zygmunt was stopped at approximately 1:45 a.m. on West Rockland Road near Stewart Avenue when police observed an expired registration sticker on her vehicle. Suspecting she was under the influence of alcohol, field sobriety tests were conducted, and after failing those tests, Zygmunt was arrested and her vehicle towed, reports say. She was processed and later released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a pending June 15 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Scott M. Sakoda, 25, of 1405 Thorton Way, Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI (over .08) and speeding on May 19. At approximately 12:10 a.m. Sakoda was stopped for speeding on Milwaukee Avenue near Sunnyside Place. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and he was taken into custody. After processing, he was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond and given a court date of June 15 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Jeffrey T. Owen, 33, of 415 West Enterprise 211, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage on May 19. Owen was observed swerving in his lane of traffic and driving on the yellow median lines on eastbound Park Avenue at approximately 2:50 a.m. He was stopped in the 900 block of East Park Avenue and asked to perform field sobriety checks. Failing those tests, Owen was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. During the subsequent search of his vehicle before towing, officers found cannabis and drug paraphernalia and he was cited for those violations. Owen was processed and later released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. His court date is scheduled for June 15 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Rohit Chand, 25, of 10 Montauk Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage on May 19. At 3 a.m., a vehicle driven by Chand was stopped at the intersection of Golf and Butterfield roads. Police had observed the vehicle crossing center dividing lines multiple times and suspected the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. Chand failed field sobriety tests and he was arrested and the vehicle towed. After processing, Chand was released on a valid driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a June 29 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.
