Park district seeks input on ADA plan

Mundelein and community residents are invited to share their input on the recently updated Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan and help the Mundelein Park District put together the best ways for all visitors to use park facilities and programs.

The transition plan is a comprehensive plan based on a review of all parks and facilities of the Mundelein Park and Recreation District. The purpose of the plan is to address any barriers that may prevent a person with a disability from using park facilities or programs. The reviews of the plan were conducted by Recreation Accessibility Consultants of Hoffman Estates.

Action on the plan will be taken at the July 25 park board meeting and residents wanting to give input can do so at the meeting. The meeting is held at 7:30 p.m. at the Mundelein Community Center, 1401 N. Midlothian Road. At the meeting, participants will have an opportunity to review the proposed plan and ask questions. Comments can also be shared with Margaret Resnick, Mundelein Park and Recreation District director, at (847) 388-5460, or e-mail mresnick@mundeleinparks.org.

Positions are available at Mundelein parks

Thanks to a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Mundelein Park and Recreation District announces newly-created seasonal positions available for teens, ages 16 thru 19. The grant is part of the IDNR’s Illinois Youth Recreation Corps which provides funding to local sponsors, like Mundelein Park District, for opportunities for youth employment in the areas of recreation and conservation.

With this grant, the park district has established five new, seasonal positions in ground maintenance, with one as a supervisory role. Employment is for a maximum of 60 days during the summer months. Interested candidates can complete an application on-line at www.mundeleinparks.org and can stop by the park district’s Community Center, 1401 N. Midlothian Road, in Mundelein, to pick up or complete an application.
