Libertyville ballot features more of the same

LIBERTYVILLE – Voters won’t see much of a change on many local government boards after the April 9 elections.
Dec. 26 was the last day to file petitions to run for seats in the April election.
Libertyville village president and village board incumbents will be on the ballot in the spring. Village President Terry Weppler; trustees Rich Moras, Todd Gaines and Jay Justice; and Clerk Sally Kowal are running for re-election. No one else filed to run.
In Libertyville Elementary School District 70, incumbents Julie Damenti and Thomas Vickers are running. For Damenti, it will be her first election after being appointed to her post. Vickers is running for a second four-year term. Newcomer Wendy Schilling is running for the first time.
There are three candidates for four open spots on the board.
The open seat is still up for grabs, Anyone interested in running has until February 7 to file a declaration of intent to run as a write-in candidate. The declaration form can be found on the Lake County Clerk’s website.
If no one files by the Feburary 7 deadline, the board will eventually appoint someone.
District spokeswoman Robin Kollman said that people interested in the seat will be able to submit applications and résumés. The board will then interview candidates and select one.
The board of Community High School District 128, which oversees Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School, will remain unchanged.
Incumbents Patrick Grudy, Stephen Arthur, Karin Lundstedt and Ellen Mauer will all be on the ballot.
