Security at CLC child centers is reviewed

The College of Lake County Police Department, the college’s environmental health and safety manager, and child-care staff have reviewed security protocols for campus child-care centers.
The review was in response to the shootings in Newtown, Conn., according to CLC President Jerry Weber, who also said the college would continue its practice of holding emergency preparedness exercises.
He added that several added security measures would be coming to the CLC board for approval, including purchase of emergency phones for classrooms and additional campus security cameras.
At Tuesday’s CLC board meeting, Weber said the college has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The award recognized the budget documents prepared by the college for Fiscal Year 2013, covering the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.
Weber said that less than 30 community colleges in the nation have received the award and praised the work of Vice President David Agazzi and Controller Andy Williams in preparing the budget documents recognized by the award.
“The college is committed to financial accountability and transparency,” CLC Board Chairman Richard Anderson of Grayslake said. “This award is a nice recognition that our budget documents are supporting that goal.”~.
