LIBERTYVILLE – The motorist who crashed into the playground, fence and tree at Rockland School on Thursday died of natural causes, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

No students or pedestrians were injured when the gray pickup truck traveling westbound on Rockland Road veered off the street and onto the playground of the school.

The man was identified as James Hall, 69, of Libertyville. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he died.

An autopsy showed he died of natural causes, said Orlando Portillo, chief deputy coroner.

Police closed Rockland Road between Milwaukee Avenue and Stewart Avenue for a couple of hours because of the crash.

The truck stopped before reaching the building, but did hit a parked van, drove through a fence, wrecked a fire hydrant and also hit a bike rack and mature pine tree.
