LIBERTYVILLE — The Libertyville Police Department is investigating the death of Robert Pokorny, 73, who lived near Libertyville.

The Police Department responded Friday to a call at Adler Park, 1500 Milwaukee Ave., where Pokorny was found unresponsive and trapped beneath his vehicle in the area of the sledding hill parking lot.

Preliminary information suggests that Pokorny was working on his own vehicle when it may have shifted and he became trapped by the rear tire.

Pokorny was transported to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:32 p.m., police Lt. Scott Fabbri said in a press release.

The Lake County Coroner’s office responded, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined.

“At this time it is not known why Mr. Pokorny may have been working underneath his vehicle,” the release said. “The working condition of the vehicle has not yet been determined.”

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when it becomes available, the press release said.
