Metra will hold a series of open houses across the region over the next three weeks to set a strategic direction for the mass transit agency.

The Lake County session will be from 4 to 7 p.m. July 17 in the board room at Libertyville Village Hall, 118 W. Cook Ave.

Representatives of the Transportation Management Association of Lake County confirmed they will attend and provide feedback on commuter needs especially for numerous Shuttle Bug riders who access six Metra stations on three Metra Lines in Cook and Lake counties.

At the Libertyville open house, Metra is asking for help as it begins to craft its first strategic plan in several decades. The commuter rail agency has set up a brief survey at www.metrarail.com/strategicplan.

As the strategic plan begins to take shape, Metra officials said they will hold another round of open houses in the fall. They expect to complete the plan by the end of this year.
