Condell’s Jesse
Jody Jesse, director of the emergency and trauma department at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, has been recognized by Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network for outstanding achievement in addressing the need for organ and tissue donation at Advocate Condell.
Named a 2012 Lifesaving Partner by Gift of Hope, Jesse was among a group of hospital, forensic and civic professionals and organizations nominated for their work to help Gift of Hope carry out its mission of saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation. She was recognized for her work to increase donation opportunities at Advocate Condell as a member of the hospital’s Donation Committee and to introduce and apply donation best practices in her department.
Deadline nears to enter competition
The Lake County Heritage Farm Foundation sends out a final call reminder that the deadline for entering our art competition based on farm scenes is June 1.
The competition is co-sponsored with the Lake County Discovery Museum and is open to artists, 18 years or older, from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. The topic of The Farm: Images from the Heartland 2012 is farm scenes: buildings, equipment, animals, farm fields, crops, and people. The art will be juried, and prizes will be awarded. Work of winning artists will be displayed in the White Room at the Discovery Museum, Lakewood Forest Preserve, from Aug. 26 through Nov. 4.

Graber honored with award
The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) awarded the Albert H. Ketcham Memorial Award, its highest honor, to Dr. Lee Graber of Vernon Hills on May 6 at the Excellence in Orthodontics Awards Ceremony and Luncheon, held in conjunction with the 2012 Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Dr. Graber , who is in private orthodontic practice with his daughter Dr. Katie Graber in Vernon Hills, has played an instrumental role in two of the leading organizations in the specialty of orthodontics - the AAO and the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO). He is a past president of the AAO and served as president of the WFO from 2000 to 2005.
Dance and Dine held at Mickey Finn’s
Two ballroom dancers/dance instructors and their fellow trainers on May 6 hosted a special “Dance and Dine” event at Mickey Finn’s Brewery in Libertyville
The evening featured group ballroom dance lessons from world class dancer/instructor Krystian Grabowski and award winning dancer/instructor Sylvia Zawadzka, co-owners of Ballroom Dance Studio in Northbrook and Vernon Hills, in the restaurant’s private, upstairs Amber Room.
Each person not yet a student of Ballroom Dance Studio received a certificate for a free, 45 minute future private lesson.
Martin ready to perform May 31
Katie Martin, a former Dancenter North student, will be featured in the upcoming CW show “Breaking Pointe” on May 31.
Martin is a member of Ballet West in Salt Lake City Utah, the company being profiled in the series. Martin has also just signed a contract as a soloist for Boise State Ballet.
