Haven Youth and Family Services “Jazzed it up” for a crowd of 200 guests at its 13th annual spring benefit held at North Shore Country Club on March 10.
The theme for the event was Jazz it up for Haven, while the Flat Cats set the ambiance with their live music throughout the evening.
Thanks to generous sponsors such as Discover Financial Services, Haven dazzled guests throughout the evening, raising $100,000 to help provide services to local teens and their families.
Auctioneer Renee Jones rallied support for Haven during the live auction, which included premium seats to the Discover Orange Bowl, a VIP box at Charter One Pavillion, and a Chicago White Sox skybox.
Haven recognized Wilmette resident, Marcia Greening with the Haven Hero Award to recognize her hard work and dedication to Haven as a past Board member and benefit chairman.
Haven has full-time social workers who provide counseling and crisis services as well as arrange emergency housing for teenagers in New Trier and Northfield townships. Four outreach workers now have a daily presence in New Trier High School, Washburne Junior High, and Sunset Ridge School. Haven workers also provide wellness workshops for many schools in the North Shore community.
The annual benefit provides nearly 25 percent of Haven’s annual operating budget and allows Haven to continue providing services free of charge. Thanks to last year’s benefit, Haven added an additional staff member.
The funds are earmarked to increase programming around the North Shore and emergency crisis and housing services.
