As more and more Women’s club are finding it difficult to survive these days, the Saint Mary Buffalo Grove Women’s Club is flourishing and helping the community. The Saint Mary Parish Community was proud to be a part of the “Circle of Life”, the theme for the Saint Mary Women’s Club annual fundraiser. On February 18, 2012, over 500 members of the Saint Mary Parish community in Buffalo Grove from the ages of 2 to 92, came together at the Marriott Lincolnshire Hotel Grand Pavillion to celebrate this circle as they have for over 50 years. Organized by The Saint Mary Women’s Club and with the help of former alumni Allsion Melville, current music director at Saint Mary School BG, Lacey Rust, Dance Director and owner of Reverie Dance Academy in Buffalo Grove, and MC Colleen Ferreira on-air reporter at WSBT-TV Southbend, attendees rejoiced in celebration, ate a delicious meal, and took chances on raffle tickets with winnings of over 100 prizes. A beautifully choreographed musical show highlighting fashions from Lord & Taylor Woodfield delighted young and old. Featured in the performance was the current 8th-grade class of Saint Mary School as well as many former Presidents of the Women’s Club dating as far back as 1962. There were also many male and female models and dancers from the parish of all ages in this Circle of Life Celebration. The event raised over $10,000 which will be used to help those in need within the community. The success of this event has helped provide meals to the homeless in the community through PADS, coats to disadvantaged children and adults, gift cards to needy families, meals and support to the local USO, scholarships and special events and requests that support Parish life in the community.
