Metropolis partnered with the new start-up F.A.M.E. organization for a fundraiser on March 8, at Rockit Bar & Grill to benefit Metropolis School of the Performing Arts.

F.A.M.E. (Foundation of Artists Mentored in Entertainment) is a new non-profit organization founded by Chicago talent agent Lily Liu in 2010. They are dedicated to providing financial and educational resources to budding artists to help them grow their talent. For their first fundraiser, F.A.M.E. has selected Metropolis School of the Performing Arts (SOPA) as a beneficiary.

The event featured performances from SOPA student Steffan Argus, who was recently added to the nationally recognized Kidz Bop line up, and the Metropolis Limelights Singers, SOPA’s new show choir group. There were also performances from the winners of F.A.M.E.’s Chicagoland talent search.

Two hundred individuals attended the inaugural F.A.M.E. fundraiser. Also in attendance were celebrity judges of F.A.M.E.’s talent search including Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Julian On The Radio from B96 Morning Show, Brotha Fred from Brotha Fred’s Neighborhood Mornings on 103.5 KissFM, Level Next Music recording artist Taylor Mallory and Arabel Alva Rosales, Co-Principal and Founder of Latino Fashion Week.

As Metropolis was one of the beneficiaries of the event, the School of the Performing Arts received $2,000 for its tuition assistance fund to support students in need of financial aid.

This fantastic event helped raise awareness of the new F.A.M.E. organization, as well as Metropolis School of the Performing Arts. Ticket sales and tuition fees alone do not cover the costs of operating a thriving performing arts centre. Metropolis special events, like the F.A.M.E. fundraiser, help keep ticket prices affordable and tuition costs low in the performing arts school. Funds from our special events also help Metropolis bring the arts into the community through our Outreach programs.

Metropolis is located in the heart of Chicago’s northwest suburbs in downtown Arlington Heights at the intersection of Campbell and Vail Ave at 111 W. Campbell Street.
