Two hundred guests joined the Board of Directors of the Rebecca Lynn Cutler Legacy of Life Foundation at the sixth annual Rebecca’s Dream benefit Nov. 12 at Fulton’s on the River, 315 N. LaSalle, Chicago. The festive evening raised $90,000 to support causes that combat the diseases of depression and bipolar disorder.
Entitled “Changing the Face of Depression,“ this year’s benefit included sumptuous dining and music to raise critically needed funds to support causes that combat two increasingly prevalent yet still widely misunderstood diseases: depression and bipolar disorder. Master of Ceremonies again Steve Cochran served as the host for the evening, which also featured an address by noted speaker Stephen Propst. Three recent grant recipients were recognized for their courage in the face of overwhelming challenges.
The Rebecca Lynn Cutler Legacy of Life Foundation was established in 2005 and became a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation in 2009. Carrying out the mission of Rebecca’s Dream, the foundation is propelled forward by the dreams of Rebecca Cutler, an intelligent and passionate woman who succumbed to her own struggle with depression and bipolar disorder. Rebecca’s family and friends wanted to continue Rebecca’s personal mission to help others receive the treatment and support that they need. The vision of the Legacy of Life Foundation is to educate the world about depression and bipolar disorder while reducing stigma.
Since 2005, the foundation has raised over $1,000,000 in support of Rebecca’s Dream to promote awareness, and compassionate understanding of depression and bipolar disorder as real diseases. Throughout the years, the organization has promoted our cause through the media, health fairs, schools and professionals.
