13 DUI arrests in Libertyville during safe driving campaigns

Libertyville and Lincolnshire police said their holiday crackdowns on driving under the influence and seat belt enforcement netted 13 DUI arrests and one citation for not wearing a seat belt.
The enforcement campaign took place from Dec. 17-Jan. 1. Both departments utilized federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety.
Libertyville deployed officers on six saturation patrols. There were nine arrests for DUI with alcohol, one with DUI for drugs, one citation for no seat belt, 33 for speeding, eight for no proof of insurance, three arrests for driving on a suspended license, three for not having a driver’s license on their person, one ticket for transporting open alcohol, one for possession of marijuana and one for possession of drug paraphernalia.
In Lincolnshire, police added 24 patrol hours, producing 41 traffic stops and three DUI arrests. Other offenses included one zero-tolerance arrest, two suspended or revoked driver’s license citations, one drug arrest, 20 other traffic citations and 25 written warnings.
