Driver killed when pickup nearly hits Libertyville school
No students or pedestrians were injured Dec. 6 when a gray pickup truck traveling westbound on Rockland Road in Libertyville veered off the street and onto the playground of Rockland Elementary School. It was determined the driver died of natural causes.

LIBERTYVILLE — No students were hurt but a 69-year-old man died after crashing his pickup into the playground of a Libertyville school Thursday.
The crash took place while the playground at Rockland School in Libertyville was unoccupied, according to a release from Libertyville police.
Emergency units were called about 10:40 a.m. to the school in the 100 block of Rockland Road and found a 2007 Dodge pickup with extensive damage.
The driver and sole occupant, an elderly man whose name has not been released, was found unresponsive in the truck and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead.
No children or bystanders were injured at the school, which has classes for students in grades kindergarten through fifth.
Rockland Road was closed for more than two hours, according to police. The crash remains under investigation.
